Picturing the Past: Technology
as a Tool to Capture and View Images
Computing Commons Gallery,
Arizona State University. Curated exhibition of original photographs,
cameras, and ephemera with digital enlargements, slide video and computergraphic
projection. Included images from daguerreotypes and cased images, to
cartes de visites, mounted photographs and real photographic postcards
from my collection.
The exhibition explores
the interaction between historic photographs and the technologies used
to reproduce and access them. The exhibit has two components. The first
provides examples of traditional photography and historic processes
and imagery. The second addresses technologies used to store and retrieve
such images, including video disc and CD-ROM, and on-line access to
historical collections such as American Memory and the Northern Arizona
University digital imaging project.
